2010 Barrett Reunion

Just in case anyone is reading this blog, the Barrett reunion will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania next August. The Barrett Family Reunion is held on the first Saturday in August, and Jackie and Marietta have graciously (under no pressure whatsoever from Aunt Kacky, Aunt Betty, and Uncle Paddy!) "volunteered" to host the reunion.

As our family grows and expands across the country, and the world, it gets harder and harder to get together to share memories, talk about our kids, grandkids, talk about who's doing what, and for me to update the Family Tree! I know, many of you have said I should be on FaceBook to get all this information, but there is nothing like a face to face conversation to listen to a story, capture the details, and memorialize it.

Anyway, mark your calendar now for August 7th, get your GPS set for Pittsburgh, and come to the reunion. Pass this along to all your family, see you there.

Hello, Anybody out there?

So tomorrow marks the opening of the Tuesday night concerts at ArtPark, with none other than the Reverend Horton Heat. Alas, I had great plans to attend, but Knights of Columbus duties prevent me from doing so. Come to think of it, the last time I saw the Rev in Buffalo (what was the name of that place?), I came from a Knights function where I met the Bishop of Buffalo. So in one night not only did I meet the Bish, I saw the Rev. To say nothing of seeling the Legendary Shack Shakers.....how could one ever forget that!

We're getting ready for the wedding, coming sooner than we can believe it. Fresh coats of paint everywhere, new floor in the dining room (yes David, I did it myself!..well, with the help of my good friend Sam and his tools). Still don't have the bathroom done, but we're getting there. Looking forward to seeing friends and family.

Andy graduated from college, now has his Bachelor Degree in Media Production. Anybody need a sports writer, producer, on-air personality? He's ready willing and able. We're really proud of him!

So let's hear from you! What's going on? Yeah, I know I'm not on facebook, but let's hear from you.

Florida Boothby Update

The school year will be wrapping up soon for the girls. Mike and I are very proud to announce that both Maria and Emma made honor roll. They really dug in this year and have made great strides in all their classes.
We recently visited Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida to celebrate their achievement and we had a blast. Maria and I even got first row on The Hulk. The weekend was exhausting but it recharged us for the homestretch.
I would like to let everyone know Mike has assumed a new roll in the family. He is now in charge of Bet Squelching Offenses. Officer Mike was on the case this week to settle a dispute between Lizabeth Cousins and Amanda Williams. He did research and amazing detective work even calling the church in Redwood, NY. Amanda was the clear winner and Officer Mike will be on the case until dear sweet Lillibeth coughs it up.

Okay so that is all for now. We hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Not only can I name everyone in that picture, I remember it being taken! This was at your first house on Fargo, in the rear of another house. Can't remember much of the house, but do remember playing in that yard, running up the slanted door that led to the basement........

I was in Florida last week for a conference, spending five days in Jacksonville. The weather was nice, better than the chilly WNY weather. While I was there I did get to spend a few hours having pizza and beer with Kira, Karl, Sam, Jonah, Charlie, and Maria. Within two minutes of entering Kira and Karl's home, I was machine-gunned with a nerf gun!! I guess the kids realized quickly I was family, and therefore fair game. Ahh but I was able to turn the tables at an opportune time and return the favor. Needless to say I had an absolutely great time visiting, and wished I could have stayed longer. My thanks again for their hospitality.

John, I don't remember who's taking me across the bridge. Take a look at this picture. I'm sure you can identify everyone. How about the look on your face! This photo was taken in 1959.

Top O' Mornin' Ti Ya!!!

Happy St. Patty's Day to All. I hope you find a green beer in your hand, corn beef on your plate, and an Irish Joke on your lips!

Hey Lori, if your in NYC for the 4th, contact Katey. She lives in Astoria, and would be glad to say hello and visit with you. But check in advance, she submitted a paper to a college in England for review, and was accepted, so she may be travelling to Manchester around that time!

Jimmy, who the heck was taking you across the Peace Bridge?!?!?! Wow! Weren't those simpler days? Just a stroll across the bridge, no passports required, no photo IDs, toll was probably 25 cents. Probably no King Edward Hotel then either....

Rumors Are True

Yes it is true, Mike, Lori, Maria, and Emma will not be visiting Buffalo and Redwood this year. It really is making the girls sad. Mike and I really enjoy our family so we are feeling the loss of our annual trip. But it is for a good reason. My sister Jul is getting married on Long Island July 4th. We have planned quite an event and it will also mark Lori and the girls first time to Long Island and NYC.
So if anyone will be in the Tri-state area July 4th weekend maybe we can meet up for coffee or something. *Disclaimer I may have a nervous bride in tow so plan accordingly!

Barrett Reunion

I heard through the grapevine that the Barrett reunion is in Buffalo this year, and will be held on August 1st? If so - we'll be there! I just booked tickets for Karl and the kids and I to head up to Buffalo this summer for Katey's wedding, and we'll be there through August 2nd.
Can't wait to see everyone!

At last pictures of my childhood surface. There are a couple of Mark and Me and one of a Barrett who's name I forgot taking me across the Peace Bridge.

Hello Family

We don't have much to report. Emma went on a class trip this past Friday to St. Augustine.
She had a grand time.
Mr. Lee Greco came over for dinner Friday. We enjoyed an evening of Tacos and Alice's famous taco sauce. Mike has really mastered the recipe. We put it on tacos, chips, and ate it off spoons. Sooooo Good. We are taking orders and pricing will vary depending on how much Mike can tolerate you. HeHe! No we don't have time for that! Make your on sauce!

We enjoyed viewing all of Lizabeth's birthday picks on Katey's Facebook and it looked like everyone who could attend had a lovely time.
Enjoy Your Week!

Winter, You call that winter?

A little bit of ice and you call that winter! Glad to see the kids insist on learning the hard way!

A Bit of Winter

Just so all you Buffalonians don't think you are the only ones who have to deal with cold weather....here are some pictures from this past week in Jacksonville, FL!!
My kids thought that icicles were the best things they had ever seen, and didn't believe me when I told them not to walk on the icy driveway or they'd slip and fall. They ate it. Twice.
Love to all,
Kira

I hope everyone is doing good. I just found out the route for my ride acroos Iowa this year. It's a little shorter this year only about 445 miles. As usual I will be riding with the group "Pedaling For Parkinson's" we ride to raise money for research and also to raise awareness about Parkinson's. There is a show about Parkinson's on PBS tonight at 9:00 PM. I believe you can also watch it on the PBS website for the show Frontline. I am just starting my training and hope to be in better shape this year. I have to lose some weight so I have room for the great Iowa food.

Yo, wassup?

Hello everybody, Hamburg Garrigans reporting in here. Kate is doing well, and we are busy planning a wedding, well Patty and Kate are, I'm just critiquing from the sideline. As all of us in WNY know, it is snowing like crazy, and colder than a witche's, well, you know.

Andy is starting back at Buff State, closing in on the finish line. He's still working at West Herr Ford, and at WECK 1230 AM. Right now he is helping to produce the UB Bulls basketball games. By the way the Bulls are 12-5 and looking almost as good as their football team. With Katey on the mend, Patty is easing back into the work force, hawking cheese and olives at Wegmans.

That's about it for now, not much else going on here. Keep them blogs a comin'.

Hello From Eddtide

Hello Everyone,
This is Lori in North Palm Beach reporting on behalf of the Florida Boothbys'. We are settling back into regularly scheduled programming after Christmas Vacation. We are expecting the arrival of our first winter guests this month, Davie and Beth will be with us for Super Bowl for the second year in a row, and Maria will be 12 on January 22.
Kira thanks for the invite and it is good to get reports about Katey. She remains in all our prayers.

G'day everyone!

Firstly, our love to Katey and hope she is doing well.

We are enjoying our summer vacation. Not doing much-relaxing! Watching the cricket(not really-I don't have the patience or time to waste watching that). We are still in drought conditions. Our lake is still empty and, ironically, it caught fire last week. Yes, we had a lake of fire!!! What a country! Andrew and Emma are doing well. Andrew just went camping for a few days by the beach and had a fantastic time. Emma and I have been doing the bbq circuit-it is the season and Aussies love a bbq.

Jason, thanks for the photo's.
Love, Annie

Blog Update

First of all, I am glad to hear that Katey is doing well! Thanks for the update, and give her a hug from everyone here in Jacksonville.
As for the blog, we have several family members already on board, but a lot who haven't responded or don't know about it yet. I sent about 30 emails out, and have about 8 people on as authors or who are just following the blog. Please let everyone know about it who you think might want to be involved.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Kira
